My God what a BITCH!

May 18, 2008 at 3:02 pm (Shopping)

Today my sister and I went to Shoppers to pick up groceries for our steak and potato grill.  We got through the store picking up a lot more than what we needed…as usual.  Oh, and they have the best cloth bags I’ve seen so far.  For .89 you get a really good bag. It’s green and has their logo on it in a lighter green. This bag is taller than WalMart and Target’s bags. I actually fit $74 worth of groceries into two of these bags.

Now to the bitch. We go to the self check aisle and my sister goes first. She buys one of these bags and takes care of her order. I start my order and the stupid machine starts with the "there is an unknown item in the bagging area, please remove it."  This is a common problem with this store, I have no idea what the problem is…but its been two years-fix it already!

So, we finally follow the instructions of the voice and remove the bag from the bagging area, we then hear "item removed from bagging area, please return item to bagging area."  So, we put the bag back on the shelf and get "there is an unknown item in the bagging area, please remove it."  Are you kidding me??? We are stuck.  We look for the cashier who normally oversees the self check area and find her helping the guy right behind us. So we wait.

When she finishes with him she starts walking away and I say "maam." And she’s like "yeah I know I’m getting over to my computer."  She says something else that I can’t hear.  You can tell this old bag just loves her job.

So we figure that we would just skip the bagging counter and left our bag on the floor and packed it there.  She can’t leave us alone at this point and says "if you put the bag back up there you won’t have to do that anymore."  I have no idea what she is talking about, and my sister tells her that we had been doing it that way, but that’s what got us the error message earlier.  Then she says "that’s because I wasn’t over here."   Duh – you dumb ass.  I’d rather touch the ’skip bagging’ button each time than take the risk of you not being at your computer when my computer fucks up again.

I’m not sure why she’s got such a problem with us.  I’m finishing up when she says "did you have one of those shopping bags when you came in because there have been only two rung up and paid for."

My sister told her that one of the bags was hers and was paid for on the previous order.  "Oh."  Are you kidding me? You didn’t just go back and check out my order to try to find another reason to hassle me?  Stupid cow. It’s not my problem you hate your job.

I though I could get it off my chest by just blogging about it, but to no avail, I just called and complained about her to the manager.

I guess if you work in a grocery store you are superior to the rest of us. Bitch!

Cloth Shopping Bags

May 14, 2008 at 6:47 pm (Shopping)

I’ve recently decided to be more ‘green.’ So I’ve been looking at a few websites that offer cloth shopping bags, some really hip ones. I found some nice bags here, but since I figured I’d need about 10 this seemed like a lot of money. So when I saw WalMart had them for a dollar, I bought one and have actually been taking it with on short trips to the store.

Today I go to Super Target to pick up a few things and see that they also sell cloth shopping bags. They are a little more expensive, but $1.49 really isn’t that bad. And they are kind of cute.   So I bought one. Now I have two bags and wonder why on earth I thought I needed 10??

I bought about $40 worth of goodies for my sick little granddaughter and everything fit in the two bags. I didn’t even feel stupid using a WalMart bag in Target…I thought there might be a chance of that.  So, take a look at my new bags and all the crap that fit in just two.

So I’m feeling pretty good about doing my part to save the planet. Then I take my righteous  self out to my gigantic Yukon Denali and blow through about $8 worth of gas going 5 miles back home with my cloth grocery bags. Gonna have to get rid of that thing!
